Believe it or not, it’s been almost two months since the CrossFit Open ended and Mat Fraser and Sara Sigmundsdottir were announced as the winners. (Fraser won by a decisive 78 points ahead of Noah Ohlsen, while Sigmundsdottir beat Kari Pearce by just four points.)
Now it’s time for the next step in the lead-up to the 2017 Reebok CrossFit® Games: Regionals.
Between May 19 and June 4, the fittest individuals and teams for seventeen different regions from around the world (most of them located in North America) will be competing at one of eight regional events.
There are two ways you can watch the Regionals from your home: You can head to games.crossfit.com or to CrossFit’s YouTube channel, where all events will be streamed live and free, regardless of the country from which you’re watching. On the Games site, there are tabs where you can switch back and forth between regions.
The East Regional will start on Friday, May 19. The first event will be Team Events 1 & 2, which you can watch at this YouTube link starting from 8:50am EST. The first Individual Event will be held at 12:30pm EST, and you can watch that here.
The Regionals take place over three weekends between May 19 and June 4. This weekend the East Regional will take place in Albany, New York and the South Regional will be in San Antonio, Texas.
Next weekend it’s the Pacific Regional in Woolongong, Australia; the California Regional in Del Mar; and the Central Regional in Nashville, Tennessee.
The final weekend will have the Meridian Regional in Madrid; the West Regional in Portland, Oregon; and the Atlantic Regional in Atlanta, Georgia.
After seven years of taking place in Carson, California, the 2017 Reebok CrossFit® Games themselves will be held in the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin over the course of one week, August 1st to 6th. According to the official website, Madison will be the home of the Reebok CrossFit Games for at least the next three years. Good luck to all competitors this month!
