Yesterday, we got to see another full demo video for an individual event at the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games. This event is being titled Strongman’s Fear, and utilizes strongman inspired movements, but with a gymnastics spin.

This individual event is set to take place on Saturday, August 5th. Women individual competitors will begin the event at 9 a.m. and men will start at 10:05 a.m CST.

Check out the full strongman-inspired workout below. Make sure to read over the rules to understand what an athlete has to do to officially complete the event.

Strongman’s Fear: For Time

  • 150-Foot Yoke Carry
  • 150-Foot Sled Drag
  • 150-Farmer’s Log Carry

Male: 420 lb Yoke, 170 lb Logs, and 265 lb Sled
Female: 300 lb Yoke, 120 lb Logs, and 220 lb Sled

Scoring: An athlete’s score is the amount of time it takes them to complete the full event.

Event Rules

  • Athletes can bring the three objects across the field in the order of their choosing.
  • Athletes must bring each object to at least mid-field (60-feet). This means they can bring it the full distance in one shot, or leave it mid-field and go back for other things (like in Alex Parker’s demo below).
  • When moving back to retrieve something, athlete must perform a handstand walk (ex: If they move a yolk to mid-field, then they must handstand walk back for the next piece of equipment). The minimal carry distance is 60-feet, so athletes will have to handstand walk distances of 60-feet or more, depending where they leave their equipment.
  • Athletes can’t leave an object before the mid-field point. If they start a carry, or pull, then they must at least hit the mid-field area before going back for the next.

If you’re a little confused by all of the rules, then check out Parker’s demo of the event attached below.

Parker chose to carry the yoke and farmer’s logs roughly halfway, and then dragged the sled in one shot. Either way, this event is going to rely a lot on strategy, and will come down to an athlete’s ability to gauge their exhaustion.

How much can they handle in one shot without burning out?
