The highly anticipated individual Obstacle Course of the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games event has concluded as of today, and the results have been posted. Patrick Vellner claims first for the men, while Tennil Reed-Beuerlein takes first for the women.
Vellner’s first place finish bumps him into the men’s top ten at number nine, and Reed-Beuerlein advanced up the leaderboard to third place. Current first place leaders Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey finished in 6th and 12th, respectively.
From first to second, there was a decent gap between both the men’s and women’s finishers (smallest difference in the top two was four seconds between Vellner and Steat Hoerner). Check out the men’s and women’s top five finishers below with their respective final round times.
|Men’s Top Five||Women’s Top Five|
|1. Patrick Vellner – 1:04.35||1. Tennil Reed-Beuerlein – 1:21.8|
|2. Streat Hoerner – 1:08.97||2. Anna Tobias – 1:30.6|
|3. Cody Anderson – 1:09.39||3. Bethany Branham – 1:35.0|
|4. Noah Ohlsen – 1:12.79||4. Annie Thorisdottir – 1:35.3|
|5. Jonne Koski – 1:29.76||5. Katrin Davidsdottir – 1:41.3|
If you missed the action from earlier today, each athlete had to qualify through two heats before making it to the final round. Every athlete raced in an initial heat, then advanced if they finished in the top two, or landed one of the Wild Card time slots.
The final five racers (last heat) all earned first through fifth, and their placement was indicative of the order they finished in, regardless of time. Athletes who finished out of the top five in 6-20th, earned points based off of their finishing time in the semi-finals (round two). And for the athletes who finished 20+, then their placing was decided by their initial (first heat) time.
